Ecuadorian prosecutors have accused a former minister in the assassination of presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio. The leader of the Los Lobos cartel has also been identified as a suspect in this case. Prosecutors are charging eighteen people in connection with the murder, including four individuals for committing additional crimes. Thirteen of them have been apprehended, and this case is leaving a mark on the political atmosphere in the country. An investigation related to the individuals involved in the assassination is currently ongoing.
