The Number of Libraries in Fergana Sharply Decreased

Despite the increase in the number of libraries in the republic from 14,999 to 17,763 in a year, the number of libraries has decreased in the Fergana, Jizzakh, Tashkent, and Andijan regions. In particular, Fergana region observed the largest decline with 533 libraries closed. This situation may negatively impact the cultural and educational environment in the region. The decrease in the number of libraries may adversely affect the reading culture among the population. Local governments are compelled to look for ways to address this issue. The reduction in libraries is currently considered a serious problem.
