Only 21 Madeiran melon worms were found on Bugio Island, Portugal. Conservation organizations helped rescue them from a hard rock. These worms are currently in a near-apocalyptic state and all measures are being taken to preserve them. This initiative is of great importance for nature conservation. Specifically, Madeiran melon worms have been properly hunted as part of a unique and specific ecosystem in this environment.
