Fish Contaminated with Microplastics in the Syrdarya River

Research conducted by scientists from Tomsk State University, the Zoology Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, and Andijan State University has revealed the presence of microplastics in 61 species of fish in the Chirchiq and Qoradaryo rivers of the Syrdarya. This situation may lead to ecological problems, as microplastics can affect fish and other aquatic life and can also enter the food chain. The findings indicate the level of pollution of water resources in our country.
