The Ministry of Finance's analysis institute is proposing to implement a social norm for heating supply. According to their suggestion, a norm of 16 square meters should be established for each registered resident or for areas not exceeding 60 square meters. If this norm is increased, it is suggested that tariffs equal to 100 percent of the basic tariff be applied, which is five times higher than current rates. Proponents state that since nearly 45 percent of apartments in Tashkent do not exceed 60 square meters, if this change is adopted, their heating expenses will not see significant increases. This initiative is aimed at preventing additional financial burdens on citizens participating in the social sphere.
