The Fiscal Analysis Institute proposed the introduction of a 10% excise tax on palm oil as part of the 2027 tax policy. This proposal aims to reduce product consumption and generate an additional 22 billion soums for the budget. Participants in the discussions expressed concerns that such a tax could negatively impact food prices. According to them, instead of imposing an excise tax, it is crucial to focus on reducing the shadow economy to resolve the issue. The implementation of the proposals could help increase budget revenues.
