Abnormal Heat in Europe Affects Nuclear Power Plants

The ongoing abnormal heat in Europe is causing a reduction in the production capacity of nuclear power plants. As a result, during certain periods, the French nuclear power plant (NPP) is reducing its available capacity to 8–9 gigawatts. This situation negatively impacts not only nuclear energy but also the stability of European electricity grids, inter-country electricity trade, and energy prices. The decreasing water levels in rivers further complicate the operation of nuclear power plants. Maintaining a stable energy supply under such conditions has become a critical issue for European countries.
