The Ministry of Finance Proposes Increasing Bus Ticket Prices

The Institute of Fiscal Analysis of the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan believes that it is possible to reduce the burden of transport subsidies on the state budget by optimizing passenger flow in public transport and bringing ticket prices closer to an economically justified level. Among the proposed measures is linking the payments to carriers to service quality indicators. This, in turn, could help improve the quality of transport services. Currently, the issue of increasing bus ticket prices is being discussed by the public. It is anticipated that when these proposals are implemented, the burdens on the budget will decrease.
